BoniFer

BoniFer is available in the form of soft gelatin capsules, which are easy to swallow and designed to protect the active ingredients until they reach the intestine, where absorption is optimised. 

The pack contains 30 capsules, packaged in three blister packs of ten units each, ensuring easy and hygienic administration. The liposomal form of iron allows for the microencapsulation of the particles, reducing unwanted interactions with the gastric mucosa, protecting the integrity of the ingredients and ensuring controlled release.

BoniFer capsules are recommended in a variety of clinical and physiological contexts, in particular:

• People diagnosed with iron-deficiency anaemia, where supplementary iron intake is essential to restore normal haemoglobin levels.
• Pregnant women, those planning to conceive or who are breastfeeding, during periods when the need for iron, folate and vitamin B12 is significantly increased to support foetal development and maternal health.
• Competitive athletes, who experience greater iron loss.
• Vegetarians and the elderly, groups at high risk of iron deficiency due to reduced dietary intake or impaired absorption.
• People with symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, poor concentration or exercise intolerance, indicative of early-stage iron deficiency.

The recommended dose for adults is one capsule per day, to be taken at lunchtime to optimise absorption and reduce any digestive discomfort. 

Regular intake at the same time each day helps maintain a constant level of micronutrients in the body and allows for an effective assessment of the therapeutic response. 

BoniFer is contraindicated in the following situations:

• Known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the product’s ingredients
• Haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis or other conditions associated with iron overload
• Iron utilisation disorders, such as sideroblastic anaemia or thalassaemia major

Thanks to the excellent tolerability of the liposomal form, BoniFer can also be administered to people with digestive sensitivity, without the risk of causing a metallic taste or constipation. 

People undergoing treatment for chronic conditions should consult their doctor to manage any potential interactions.

Thanks to microencapsulation technology, adverse reactions to BoniFer are rare and generally mild. Occasionally, the following may occur:

• mild, temporary digestive discomfort;
• moderate nausea in people with heightened sensitivity;
• very rarely, allergic skin reactions.

Compared to traditional forms of iron, BoniFer does not cause constipation, does not irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa and does not produce a metallic taste, making it preferable for medium- and long-term use.

Iron may interact with certain substances or medicines, so caution is advised:

• Concomitant administration with tetracyclines, quinolones or levothyroxine may reduce its absorption.
• Calcium, zinc or magnesium supplements may reduce iron absorption.
• Foods such as black tea, coffee, cocoa or dairy products may interfere with bioavailability, which is why BoniFer should preferably be taken with meals, but not together with these products.

As BoniFer contains a controlled dose of liposomal iron, the risk of accidental overdose is reduced. 

Iron overdose can cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, severe nausea, diarrhoea or, in the most serious cases, systemic toxicity with liver damage. 

BoniFer should be stored at room temperature, protected from excessive moisture, in a dry place, in its original packaging, away from sources of heat and direct light, and out of the reach of children.
