Turmeric

Turmeric is available on the market in various pharmaceutical and nutritional forms:

This variety allows turmeric to be used both preventively and as an adjuvant in various pathologies.

Turmeric root and its extracts are recommended in multiple clinical and health maintenance contexts:

• Joint and musculoskeletal disorders – reduces inflammation and pain in arthritis and supports mobility.
• Liver health and detoxification – stimulates bile secretion, protects the liver, and promotes detoxification processes.

Turmeric is generally well tolerated, but mild side effects may sometimes occur:

• Dizziness
• Rare allergic skin reactions

Turmeric may interact with:

• Anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel) – increased risk of bleeding.
• Diabetes medications – turmeric may lower blood sugar, requiring monitoring.

Turmeric may also interact with some chemotherapy, antihypertensive, or hepatotoxic drugs.

Cases of overdose are rare, but excessive consumption can cause nausea, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or even hepatotoxicity.

Treatment consists of discontinuing use and restoring electrolyte balance.

Turmeric should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Keep the product in its original packaging, tightly closed, to prevent oxidation. Observe the expiry date stated on the packaging.
