Fumarosept
Description Fumarosept
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.fr team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Fumarosept is a product intended for active smokers and those who have stopped smoking, designed to reduce the frequency of coughing, protect the oropharyngeal mucosa, eliminate the sensation of a dry mouth and provide a pleasant refreshing effect. Thanks to its specific formulation, based on plant extracts with emollient and soothing properties, together with carefully selected excipients, Fumarosept is aimed at a segment of the population frequently exposed to chronic irritation of the upper respiratory mucosa, caused by cigarette smoke or the adaptive changes that occur after quitting smoking.
Dosage forms
Fumarosept for smokers is available as chewable tablets, packed in boxes of 24 tablets.
The tablets are formulated without sugar, using isomalt and sucralose as sweeteners, which allows the product to be used even by people with diabetes mellitus, provided there are no other individual contraindications.
Indications for use
Fumarosept is recommended:
- For active smokers, to reduce the frequency of irritative cough;
- For those who have stopped smoking and experience episodes of transient coughing associated with the mucociliary regeneration process;
- For people complaining of a dry mouth caused by exposure to smoke;
- Situations where one wishes to protect the oropharyngeal mucosa and achieve a local cooling effect.
Iceland moss extract (Cetraria islandica) is known for its mucilage content, which has a protective and soothing effect on the mucous membranes, whilst marshmallow extract (Althaea officinalis) contributes its emollient and moisturising properties.
Dosage
The recommended method of use is to take 1 or more chewable tablets per day, as required, without exceeding 8 chewable tablets per day.
The tablets should be chewed slowly to allow for optimal dispersion of the active ingredients in the mouth and to prolong the protective effect on the mucous membranes.
The dosage may be adjusted according to the severity of symptoms, but it is essential to adhere to the maximum daily dose to avoid any digestive reactions associated with excessive consumption of polyols.
Contraindications
Fumarosept is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components;
- Known intolerance to isomalt or other polyols;
- Allergy to the plants present in the formulation (lichens, mallow).
Although the product does not contain sugar, people with metabolic disorders or strict dietary restrictions should consult their doctor before use.
Special instructions for use
The product can be used both during active smoking and during nicotine withdrawal, when coughing may temporarily become more frequent due to the resumption of mucociliary clearance.
Due to its isomalt content, excessive consumption may have a laxative effect, which is why it is important to adhere to the maximum daily dose.
Side effects
In general, Fumarosept is well tolerated. However, the following may occur:
- Mild gastrointestinal disturbances (bloating, flatulence, laxative effect) in the event of excessive consumption;
- Rare allergic reactions to the plant-based ingredients;
- Temporary oral discomfort.
The incidence of adverse reactions is low and most symptoms are mild and self-limiting.
Interactions with other medicines and food
No significant drug interactions associated with the use of Fumarosept have been reported.
Due to its predominantly local mechanism of action, the product does not directly interfere with systemic therapies. However, in the event of concomitant administration with other oral products (throat lozenges, oral antiseptics), an interval of at least 30 minutes between doses is recommended to avoid dilution of the local effect.
Overdose
Overdose is unlikely if the recommended usage is followed.
If an excessive amount is ingested, digestive symptoms such as osmotic diarrhoea, abdominal cramps or gastrointestinal disturbances may occur, due to the polyol content. Treatment is symptomatic and consists of reducing or discontinuing administration.
Storage conditions
Fumarosept must be stored in the original packaging, protected from moisture and direct light. It is recommended to store it at temperatures below 25 °C, in a cool, dry place. The product must be kept out of the reach of children and must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
