Apap

USP's Apap product range includes a variety of dosage forms, including oral suspension, film-coated tablets, powder for oral solution, patches or granules, all formulated to meet patients' treatment needs. 

For example, Apap Forte for children comes as an oral suspension (40 mg/ml), while Apap Migraine for adults comes as film-coated tablets (250 mg paracetamol, 250 mg acetylsalicylic acid, 65 mg caffeine).

Apap includes a range of medicines to relieve pain from different causes, with special formulations for both adults and children.

Thanks to the paracetamol in its composition, Apap Forte is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain (headache, toothache) and fever in infants (over 3 months), children, adolescents and adults.

Apap Migraine is indicated for the treatment of headaches and migraine attacks in adults, providing an effective combination of active ingredients for fast relief of symptoms. 

The dosing regimen of Apap products depends on the patient's age, body weight, severity of symptoms, the type of formulation used and the general health of the user. 

For Apap Forte for children, the recommended dose is approximately 60 mg/kg per day, divided into 4 or 6 administrations, namely 15 mg/kg at 6-hourly intervals or 10 mg/kg at 4-hourly intervals.

For Apap Migraine, take 1 tablet with a glass of water. If necessary, another tablet can be taken 4-6 hours after the first administration.

Apap is not indicated for:

• People allergic to paracetamol or any of the ingredients in the product
• People with serious chronic diseases, such as kidney, heart or liver failure, without a doctor's consent

It is advisable to read the package leaflet carefully for the full list of contraindications. It is advisable to seek the advice of your doctor before use, especially if you are known to have other medical conditions or if you are taking medication for chronic diseases.

In the case of Apap Forte for Children, the oral suspension should be shaken well before use. The bottle cap is fitted with a child-resistant closure.

The medicine should not be diluted or mixed with other drinks, and the set dose should not be exceeded, as higher doses can cause serious risks to the liver.

Side effects may include allergic reactions, skin rash, drowsiness, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, or bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.

It is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including over-the-counter medicines.

Apap may interact with anticoagulant drugs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids or antidepressant drugs. It may also interact with other medicines containing paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid or any other analgesic/antipyretic medicines, increasing the risk of adverse effects. 

Overdose can cause gastrointestinal bleeding or severe liver damage and can be fatal. Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, confusion and jaundice. 

In case of overdose, it is essential to seek immediate medical attention.

Apap should be stored in a dry place, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. It is important to observe the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
