Hydrolyzed gelatin from Now Foods is a source of protein with a concentration of 86%, without fats or carbohydrates. This form of bovine collagen has been enzymatically predigested for improved absorption. Collagen is a protein of connective tissue in the body. It is found in a fairly large amount both in the human body and in animals. More than 25% of mammalian proteins are collagen. The collagen molecule has many different and varied forms. Collagen has a smooth and indistinct character in the skin. When it appears in the tendons, it is in the form of hard and heavy fibrous cords. Collagen supports the body in many ways, starting from the support of the blood vessels to that of the skin. The origin of the word is Greek, and translated it means glue producer. This name also appeared because the collagen from which glue is made is isolated from the boiled skin of the animals. Other parts of the body, such as the bones, are first treated and then boiled, following which the gelatin rises to the surface. The body tends to produce less collagen or of poorer quality as it ages. At the same time, there are some crossings of elements that determine the formation of fibers that are more rigid and less soluble in water.
