The vaginal ecosystem

is the natural colonization of the vagina by bacteria. Most often, these are special strains (vaginal - adapted to life in the vagina ) of lactobacilli, which produce lactic acid and thus reduce the acidity (pH) of the vaginal environment (thus creating inhospitable conditions for "hostile" bacteria). Vaginal lactobacilli also produce hydrogen peroxide , which protects against the reproduction of both "enemy" anaerobic bacteria and yeast (causing mycosis). Lactobacilli create bacteriocins on their cell walls, substances that inhibit the growth of other bacteria.

Vaginal lactobacilli

Vaginal lactobacilli are lactobacilli adapted to life in the vagina. They excel (in addition to the production of lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocins) in their ability to adhere ("stick") to the surface of the mucous membrane and thus prevent the adhesion of other bacteria. All over the world, strains of four basic strains dominate: L. crispatus, L. gasseri, L. jensenii and L. iners - no intestinal or food lactobacilli (yoghurt, etc.) stand a chance against these specialists.

Vaginal infections

they are usually characterized by an unusual discharge (=fluoride), itching or burning , redness and sometimes painful intercourse. The two clearly most common infections are bacterial vaginosis (distinguished by a "fishy" odor) and yeast infection (distinguished by severe itching and a cheesy discharge). Lighter infections can be suppressed with over-the-counter products - lactobacilli, rinses or antifungals, the most difficult ones must be treated in cooperation with a doctor. It is always very appropriate after retreatment (i.e. after elimination of "unfriendly" bacteria) to help restore the vaginal ecosystem by introducing "friendly" vaginal bacteria into the vaginal environment (GYNIMUN) .
