Properties:
- Supports digestion and digestive functions.
- Supports lactation in nursing mothers.
- Mentioned by the ancient scholars Theophrastus and Dioscorides in their works, cumin is traditionally used to restore the proper functioning of the digestive system.
Ingredients:
the fruits of the plant Carum carvi L., fam. Apiaceae, which contain volatile oil, represented mainly by carvone and limonene; protein substances, carbohydrates, resins, tannins.
Effect:
Carminative (helps eliminate intestinal gases), antispasmodic, stomachic (stimulates the secretion of gastrointestinal juices), fluidifier of bronchial secretions, emmenagogue (favors the onset of the menstrual cycle), galactogogue (stimulates milk secretion), vermifuge.
Main uses:
Colic, bloating, flatulence.
Other uses:
Loss of appetite, dyspeptic disorders, intestinal parasites, breastfeeding bronchitis.
Contraindications:
The recommended doses are not known.
Preparation:
Infusion of 1 teaspoon of fruit to a cup of boiling water.
Administration method:
- Drink 1-2 cups of tea a day, after the main meals.
- For infants, up to 6 tea spoons per day can be given; for children over 5 years old, 1 cup of tea per day is recommended.
