Ferrozen
Description Ferrozen
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.fr team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Ferrozen is a dietary supplement formulated to support the daily intake of iron, vitamins and other essential nutrients involved in haematopoiesis, energy metabolism and the optimal functioning of the nervous and immune systems. Eurofarmaco’s Ferrozen is intended for people who suffer from daily losses of micronutrients or who have increased requirements, and is often recommended in situations such as iron-deficiency anaemia, persistent fatigue or difficulty concentrating.
Dosage forms
Ferrozen is available in capsules, packaged in bottles of 30 capsules, designed for oral administration. The pharmaceutical form allows for precise dosing and effective release of the active ingredients, facilitating patient adherence to treatment.
Ferrozen Junior is also available as a syrup, in 120 ml bottles, specifically formulated for administration to children.
Indications for use
Ferrozen is recommended as a dietary supplement in cases of:
- Iron-deficiency anaemia or documented or suspected iron deficiency;
- States of fatigue, physical and mental exhaustion;
- Reduced ability to concentrate and impaired cognitive function;
- Situations involving increased iron requirements (unbalanced diet, menstrual blood loss, periods of intense stress);
- Dietary supplementation with vitamins and minerals necessary for the body’s optimal functioning.
Dosage regimen
According to the manufacturer’s recommendations, Ferrozen capsules should be taken orally, one capsule per day, preferably with a glass of water. Regular intake ensures a constant supply of iron and associated micronutrients. It is recommended to adhere to the recommended dose and to read the information on the package leaflet carefully before use.
Ferrozen Junior should be taken orally, with a small amount of water, after meals, in doses appropriate to age: from 2.5 ml/day for children under 1 year of age, up to 5 ml/day for children over 4 years of age, whilst 10 ml/day is recommended for children over 12 years of age and adults.
Contraindications
Ferrozen is not recommended for people with hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components.
Use is contraindicated in cases of haemochromatosis, other iron overload disorders, or in situations where iron supplementation is not medically indicated.
Ferrozen Junior syrup should be used with caution in people with diabetes mellitus. The product is contraindicated in people allergic to milk proteins or to any of the other ingredients in the formula.
Special considerations
The bisglycinate form of iron is better tolerated by the stomach and is associated with a lower incidence of constipation. Iron contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin, to oxygen transport, to energy metabolism, to cognitive function and to the reduction of tiredness.
Vitamin C increases iron absorption in the gut and acts as an antioxidant, supporting the immune system, energy metabolism and the formation of collagen, which is necessary for the health of the skin, blood vessels and bones.
Side effects
In general, Ferrozen is well tolerated. Occasionally, mild gastric discomfort, nausea or changes in bowel movements may occur; more rarely, constipation may occur, due to the chelated form of iron. Adverse reactions are usually temporary and depend on individual sensitivity.
Interactions with other medicines and food
Iron absorption may be affected by the simultaneous consumption of dairy products, tea, coffee or foods rich in phytates. It is recommended to take the product at a separate time from these products.
Certain medicines (antacids, bisphosphonates, antibiotics of the tetracycline or quinolone classes) may reduce iron absorption; therefore, it is advisable to take them several hours apart.
Overdose
Exceeding the recommended dose may cause significant gastrointestinal disturbances and, in severe cases, iron toxicity. In the event of accidental ingestion of high doses, urgent medical assessment is required, particularly in children.
Storage conditions
Ferrozen should be stored in its original packaging at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Best used before the expiry date shown on the packaging. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
