Hemosan

Exhelios Hemosan is available as a cream for external use, packaged in a 40 g tube, accompanied by a patient information leaflet and presented in a single pack. 

The cream formulation allows for easy application, good adhesion to the anal mucosa and uniform distribution of the active ingredients, promoting local absorption and the rapid onset of the therapeutic effect. 

Aliphia Hemosan is indicated for the local adjunctive treatment of internal and external haemorrhoids, as well as anal fissures, where it helps to reduce inflammation, soothe pain and accelerate the healing process. 

It is also useful in reducing and preventing recurrent haemorrhoidal flare-ups, proctitis, perianal eczema and anal itching, conditions characterised by local inflammation, vascular congestion and persistent irritation. 

With regular use, Hemosan helps to maintain and restore the normal function of the anal mucosa, improving local comfort and the patient’s quality of life.

The product should be applied topically, 2–3 times a day, preferably after thorough local cleansing, to ensure optimal contact of the active ingredients with the affected area. 

A sufficient amount of cream should be applied gently, without vigorous massage, to avoid further trauma to the inflamed tissues. 

Hemosan is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any of its components, including the plant extracts used in the formula. 

In the absence of detailed clinical data for special populations, caution is recommended when applying to young children or people with extensive lesions, profuse bleeding or severe local infections, situations in which a preliminary medical assessment is necessary. 

Hemosan contains extracts of calendula (Calendula officinalis) and chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), known for their antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties.

Horse chestnut extract (Aesculus hippocastanum) has venotonic, anti-oedematous and astringent properties, enhanced by hellebore extract (Helleborus purpurascens), known for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. 

Lady’s mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris) has a natural anaesthetic effect that enhances pain relief, whilst evening primrose oil (Oenothera biennis) helps restore the skin barrier and maintains tissue elasticity. 

Thanks to its natural composition and the absence of known irritants, Hemosan is well tolerated and side effects are rare. 

Mild local reactions may occasionally occur, such as a temporary burning sensation, itching or redness, particularly in people with very sensitive skin or known plant allergies. 

Hemosan does not interact significantly with other medicines administered orally or topically. It can be used alongside systemic treatments for haemorrhoids or other local treatments, provided that an application interval is observed to prevent the effect from being diluted. 

No interactions with food are known, but it is recommended to follow a balanced diet that prevents constipation and straining during bowel movements.

Overdose following topical application is unlikely, given the method of use and the safety profile of the ingredients. 

Excessive application may, in isolated cases, cause local irritation or transient discomfort, without systemic consequences. In such situations, reducing the frequency of applications and maintaining good local hygiene are usually sufficient for symptom remission.

Hemosan should be stored at room temperature, away from direct sources of heat and moisture, in the original, tightly closed packaging. The product must be kept out of the reach of children and must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging. Adherence to storage conditions helps to maintain the stability and efficacy of the active ingredients.
