Reparil

Reparil is available as gastro-resistant drages or skin gel.

Each Reparil sachet contains 20 mg of escin and is specially formulated to dissolve in the intestine, protecting the stomach from the irritation that escin may cause.

Reparil gel is composed of escin and diethylamine salicylate and is intended for external application on affected areas.

Reparil is indicated in the treatment of the following conditions:

• Inflammatory post-traumatic conditions: it is often used as an adjuvant to reduce inflammation and oedema after trauma such as sprains, contusions, sprains, sprains, haematomas and other injuries
• Venous inflammatory conditions: can be used to relieve symptoms related to vein inflammation, helping to reduce localized swelling and discomfort
• Muscle inflammatory conditions: it is effective in cases of muscle inflammation caused by physical overuse or minor injuries.

Reparil N gel is useful for relieving the functional manifestations of chronic venous insufficiency and its associated inflammatory complications, such as inflammatory hypodermatitis. 

It is also indicated for acute venous inflammation, such as superficial phlebitis, and can be used as an adjuvant treatment for minor trauma such as bruising and contusions.

The recommended dose of Reparil is:

• For adults and children over 14 years of age: 2 tablets 3 times a day, after meals, with liquids. In less severe cases, or as a maintenance dose, take 1 sachet 3 times daily.
• For children aged 7-14 years: 1 sachet 2-3 times a day, after meals, with liquids.

Use in children under 7 years of age is not recommended. 

Reparil Gel is applied externally in a thin layer to the affected areas and gently massaged in. Apply 2-4 times a day.

Use of Reparil is contraindicated if you are allergic to escin or any of the excipients.

Reparil should also not be given to patients with kidney failure or other kidney diseases.

If you have a serious chronic medical condition, seek medical advice before taking any dietary supplement.

Reparil contains sugar and lactose, so caution is needed in patients with hereditary galactose intolerance, glucose or galactose malabsorption syndrome, fructose intolerance, lactase deficiency or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.

Like any medicine, Reparil can cause side effects, although not in everyone:

• Hypersensitivity reactions such as hives
• Gastrointestinal upset, such as abdominal discomfort, nausea or other digestive upset.

If any serious or unusual side effects occur, the medicine should be stopped and a doctor should be consulted.

Escin in Reparil may interact with the following medicines:

• Anticoagulants: may increase the effect of anticoagulants, thus increasing the risk of bleeding. Patients on anticoagulant therapy should be closely monitored
• aminoglycoside antibiotics (e.g. gentamicin): concomitant administration may increase the nephrotoxicity of aminoglycosides, increasing the risk of kidney damage
• Cephalothin and ampicillin: these antibiotics can increase the concentration of free escin in the blood, leading to an enhanced effect and possible side effects.

Overdoses with Reparil have not been reported. However, if a higher than recommended dose is taken, the patient should seek medical advice to prevent possible side effects.

It is important that the medicine is stored in a safe place out of reach of children to avoid accidental ingestion. Reparil should not be used after the expiry date written on the package.
