Coatex

The Coatex range includes two main product forms:

• Coatex capsules – an oral nutritional supplement for dogs and cats, available in bottles containing 60 or 240 capsules. 
• Coatex dermatological shampoo – intended exclusively for dogs, available in 250 ml or 500 ml bottles. 

Coatex capsules for dogs and cats are primarily indicated for supporting skin and coat health in dogs and cats. The supplement is frequently recommended in the following situations:

• dry or flaky skin;
• itchy skin conditions;
• skin eczema;
• excessive hair loss;
• as an adjunct in the management of allergic or inflammatory dermatitis.

Coatex Shampoo for dogs is particularly recommended for cleansing the skin in cases of superficial dermatitis, to remove excess sebum, scabs and skin flaking. 

VetPlus Coatex capsules are administered orally, with the dose determined according to the animal’s body weight. The recommended administration schedule is as follows:

• under 10 kg – 1 capsule per day;
• 10–19 kg – 2 capsules per day;
• 20–29 kg – 3 capsules per day;
• over 30 kg – 4 capsules per day.

Coatex shampoo is for topical use. Wet the animal’s coat with lukewarm water, then massage in a small amount of shampoo until it lathers. Leave the lather on the coat for approximately five minutes, then rinse thoroughly. 

Coatex capsules for cats and dogs are generally well tolerated by most pets. However, use of the product is contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the formula’s components.

Coatex Medicated Shampoo should not be used on cats, as certain active ingredients in its composition may be less well tolerated by this species. 

Coatex capsules must be administered under the supervision of a vet, particularly in animals with chronic conditions or those undergoing concurrent drug treatments.

When using the shampoo, avoid contact with the animal’s eyes or mucous membranes. It is also recommended that the product be applied to damp fur and rinsed thoroughly to prevent skin irritation.

When used at the recommended doses, Coatex VetPlus has a favourable safety profile. Adverse reactions are rare and, when they do occur, are usually mild and transient.

Some animals may occasionally experience minor digestive disturbances, such as diarrhoea or gastrointestinal discomfort, associated with the oral administration of fatty acids. When using the shampoo, skin irritation or hypersensitivity reactions may rarely occur.

Coatex for dogs and cats can generally be used in conjunction with most commercial diets and standard veterinary treatments. Supplementation with essential fatty acids is often used as an adjunct in combination with antihistamines or corticosteroids.

However, if administered concurrently with other supplements rich in fatty acids, it is recommended to consult a vet to avoid excessive lipid intake.

No severe reactions have been reported when slightly higher than the recommended doses are administered. However, overdose may increase the likelihood of digestive disorders, such as diarrhoea or abdominal discomfort.

If an overdose is suspected, it is recommended to discontinue administration and consult a vet to assess the animal’s condition.

Coatex VetPlus products should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Bottles must be closed properly after each use to maintain the stability of the active ingredients.

The products should also be kept in their original packaging and kept out of the reach of children.
