Description Femiclar

Femiclar is a range of modern gynaecological products, formulated to restore the microbiological and physiological balance of the intimate area through non-hormonal mechanisms and the use of ingredients with proven effects on vaginal pH, bacterial flora and local regeneration processes. Designed to support vaginal health in various contexts, from microbiota imbalances to local irritation or lesions associated with HPV infections, Femiclar is available in various forms, tailored to specific clinical needs.
Dosage forms
The Femiclar range comprises several distinct and complementary forms: Femiclar vaginal gel, Femiclar ovules or Femiclar capsules.
Femiclar Vaginal Gel is a non-hormonal, clear, gentle and odourless gel, formulated with lactic acid, sodium lactate and prebiotics (fructo-oligosaccharides) to restore physiological vaginal pH and support the lactobacilli flora. A single-dose gel form of Femiclar is also available, for practical and easy use.
Femiclar Imun (30 capsules) is an oral supplement containing standardised extracts of Echinacea purpurea, Echinacea angustifolia and Shiitake, enriched with vitamins A, C, D, E and folates (Quatrefolic®), designed to support immunity and the integrity of the mucous membranes.
Femiclar HPV is a gel for external use, containing colloidal silver and antimicrobial compounds, intended for the genital area in the context of condylomatosis caused by HPV. Femiclar HPV ovules are also available for exclusively vaginal use.
Indications for use
Femiclar is indicated for:
- bacterial vaginosis, vaginitis and vaginal candidiasis in mild to moderate forms;
- microbial imbalances arising after antibiotic treatment or following the use of local antiseptics;
- prevention of recurrent vaginal infections;
- relief of symptoms such as itching, irritation, changes in discharge and vaginal discomfort;
- restoration of acidic pH (<5) and support of lactobacilli.
- impaired immunity, predisposition to recurrent infections or respiratory episodes;
- genital and perianal condylomatosis caused by HPV;
Dosage regimen
Femiclar vaginal gel should be used once daily, preferably in the evening, for 7 days. The gel should be inserted deep into the vagina using the single-dose applicator.
For Femiclar capsules, take 1 capsule daily, after meals, with a glass of water. This is recommended for adults and children over 12 years of age.
For the Femiclar pessary form, insert one pessary daily for 10 consecutive days each month, for up to 6 months.
Contraindications
Femiclar is contraindicated in cases of:
- hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients in the formulation;
- concomitant use of other vaginal gels or similar topical treatments;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding (for the vaginal gel), unless advised by a doctor;
- use of damaged or unsealed applicators;
Special instructions for use
A slight, temporary burning sensation may occur upon first application of the vaginal gel, due to lactic acid; if the symptom persists, seek medical advice.
The vaginal gel is not a contraceptive and does not contain spermicide.
It is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse immediately after applying the vaginal gel to ensure optimal distribution of the product.
Side effects
Adverse reactions are rare, but may include:
- a localised burning sensation or itching during application of the vaginal gel;
- skin irritation or redness in the case of the HPV gel;
- mild gastrointestinal discomfort with the Femiclar Imun supplement;
- allergic reactions to the herbal ingredients (particularly Echinacea).
Interactions with other medicines and food
The vaginal gel must not be used at the same time as other vaginal suppositories, gels, creams or antiseptics, to avoid changes in pH and a reduction in effectiveness.
Femiclar Imun may interact with immunosuppressive drugs (Echinacea may reduce their effect).
Overdose
Overdose is unlikely due to local application or the single daily oral dose. However:
- excessive use of the vaginal gel may alter the normal flora;
- oral administration in excess of the recommended dose may cause digestive disorders or hypervitaminosis (in the case of fat-soluble vitamins).
In the event of accidental ingestion of the gel, it is recommended to consult a doctor.
Storage conditions
Store at room temperature, 15–25 °C, away from heat sources. Keep out of reach of children. Use before the expiry date. The gels must be stored away from moisture and direct light. The applicators must be kept clean and properly sealed.
